- This lovely horse will be called Gladyss. It just popped up in my mind when I looked at the image. I had no idea what it meant, so I used Google:
Wikipedia wrote: Gladys or Gladice is a feminine name from the Welsh name Gwladus or Gwladys, which bears the meaning of royalty (princess) or the gladiolus flower

I like this meaning! I think it will suit her well.
Gender:
- Gladyss will be female. I looked at her image for a while and kept seeing her as female. But her donator (Dragoncloud aka Karma.) prefered not to change the gender. So I sent them a PM to ask them if I could change it.
Breed:
- Gladyss will be a Quarter Horse. I love the way that breed looks like and I have a soft spot for western riding. The way the horse and rider communicate is so natural. I really adore that way of handeling a horse.

Personality
- Gladyss is a typical Quarter Horse. Quarter Horses are - in general - intelligent, loyal, willing to learn and calm. Most of the times this includes Gladyss.
Gladyss is, indeed, a calm lady. She loves to stand in the sunlight. She closes her eyes then to enjoy it as much as she can. Sometimes hours pass and she doesn't even realize - it feels like only a few minutes. When others around her stress out for any reason, Gladyss stays calm and observes the situation. She knows how to clear her mind to find solutions for almost any situation that causes troubles. Many of her friends go to her if they need help to solve something.
Her loyalty is a big help for her friends. She will do anything to help them, as long as they are honest to her. Some get rude or annoyed when they are stressed out and need her help, but she doesn't mind. Just tell the truth and she's right there for you.
Gladyss is very intelligent - probably more intelligent than most others of her kind. That's what makes her such a good problem solver. She doesn't judge or guess - she knows or she doesn't. She only acts and decides by the things she knows, not by what she claims to know.
But her intelligence also makes her stubborn. She knows, so why would she bother letting others convice her things are diffrent? She listens to them, but she won't let it effect her opinion. She knows the facts, and a fact is a fact, the truth, the real deal. Just as red is red and not blue.
Gladyss knows a lot and is smart - but she doesn't know everything. She doesn't feel like she has to know everything either - nobody's perfect. But she's always willing to learn more. Don't think she is in the library all day or surfing the internet to find out more. Learning is not her lifestyle. She prefers to relax in the sunlight over reading a book. She has other ways to learn; trying things out, talk to others, listen to others, her own experiences... And ofcourse others can teach her things too.
Gladyss may sound weird and like a geek, but trust me: she is as sane and normal as you and me. She is very patient with children. Some call her 'Aunty Glad' because she is so sweet to them. But she has her limits with her rules. Se knows how to discipline them and she does so when needed.
She loves being around others. Her friends mean the world to her, though she also enjoys being alone from time to time.
History
- It was the night before Christmas... Oops, wrong story! Focus, Sabje! It's still November!
Sorry, back to Gladyss' past, that is why we are here, right?
Gladyss was born as only child in May, at the beginning of the summer. She doesn't know the exact date, though it was around May 10th. As said, she had no brothers or sisters. Can't miss what you never had, right? Wrong. She always wanted a brother or sister, but her mother was never able to get another baby.
Her father passed away soon after Gladyss was born. He had a weak heart, and during the night it just stopped beating while he was asleep. It broke her mother's heart. Her mother had to take care of the young Gladyss, she had no time to move on over her loss. She looked after Gladyss as good as she could, but got into a serious depression.
When Gladyss was 4 she realized she couldn't handle it any longer. She brought Gladyss to a very close friend. GLadyss grew up with her 'aunt' and her mother visted her every week.
Once a week changed to once a month, once a month to once every 3 months... Untill her mother stopped visiting her. She never heard from her again... Untill today she still hopes to find her again - just to make sure she's alive and okay. But she doubts she ever will...
Gladyss had a few friends, but not many. Only 2, maybe 3. But the friends she had meant a lot to her. One of her friends is Dana, who she met while she was studying. Dana helped her to move on and 'grow up'. Gladyss was stuck in a circle of pain - the pain of losing her parents and not being able to let go. Books helped her set her mind to other things. Nightmares came up and memories came alive. Dana helped her to let it go and move on.
After a few years - as a young adult - she met Wellington. He is known for being a big flirt among ladies. Gladyss became one of the girls who fell for his charms. But something made him fall for her too; he became in love with her.
He tried everything to win her heart. He came by with flowers, candy, her favorite meal, books, sang a song to her... He even made a painting for her, which is nothing like him!
But Gladyss didn't respond. She enjoyed it, but didn't give him the love he was looking for.
Just when he wanted to give up she finally answered him: he came with daisies as a goodbye gift, but she kissed him! And not like a friend on the cheek, but on his lips. The kiss lasted 20 seconds at least! Finally she gave in to her true feelings, no longer afraid to be hurt by others. Finally she was able to move on with her life and build on her future.
